We left Bahia del Sol on the 11th of January. The papagayos were still gusting, but the wind strength had decreased. We had to wait for high tide to get over the bar. So we left in the early afternoon. Bill escorted us over the bar. Then we turned East to follow the coast down to Nicaragua.

Along the El Salvadorian and Honduran coasts, we had low winds of 0 to 15 knots. We had to motor periodically whenever a volcano would block the wind. We stayed within 5 nautical miles of shore to avoid the steeper waves.

Once we past the Nicaraguan boarder, we had 15 to 35 knots of wind with 3 to 4 ft waves. The voyage was a little rough, and we had to reduce sail. However, we were easily traveling 7 to 8 knots per hour and we made great time.
We arrived in San Juan del Sur at 3:30 in the morning and had to anchor in the dark. We approached the bay slowly and anchored on the outskirts of the other boats. Anchoring was a challenge due to the poor visibility and 30 knots of wind pushing us away from shore.
