We could only enter the estuary of Bahia del Sol at 6 in the morning or 6 in the evening as there's a sand bar in front of the estuary entrance. There is also a very strong current in the estuary when the tide is coming in and going out. Also, the area has large waves hitting the shore, ideal for surfing, but not great for sail boats. Going at other times of the day puts us at risk of surfing a wave over the bar and possibly hitting the bar.
We arrived in Bahia del Sol early in the morning of the 18th of December. Mitch Heath and Nicole Muscroft got up to join Justin and I for the sun rise, which was stunning especially with the valcanos of El Savador dotting the coastline.

Bill, the harbour master came out to meet us and guide us in. Nicole steered us safely over the bar and into the estuary.

Mitch is a certified kyte boarding instructor. Mitch was kind enough to give Justin a few lessons. Justin had brought his kyte boarding gear but hadn't been able to take a lesson yet. Justin had the biggest smile on his face the entire time.

Mitch and Nichole left on the 21st to continue their travels in Nicaragua. We left our boat anchored in front of Bill, the harbour master, and Jean's house so that we could explore more of El Savador.
