Puerto Vallarta

We radioed the harbour master at the Puerto Vallarta Yaught Club to enquire about renting a slip for a few days.   This started our interesting entry into the marina.   Getting a slip wasn't an issue.   The marina entry was the issue.   At low tide,  the entry is 7 feet deep and increases to 8 feet at high tide.   We arrived at low tide and our boat has an 8 feet draft.  Upon hearing that the  bottom was mud and with a guiding dingy showing us the deepest part of the channel, we braved the entry,  kissing bottom when in the troughs of the waves and moving forward on the crests of the waves.

Coming into the Marina

The marina was associated with the Paradise Village Resort.   So we had full access to the resort, of which we took full advantage.

Our Christmas photo, a bit early but might be the last chance in front of a Christmas tree

Justin and I took in a few yoga classes.   I got a message while Justin checked out the gym. We spent an afternoon by the pool.  We caught up on laundry and stocked up for the next two weeks, as the next leg is a long one.

Justin and I went to a dinner show, called Rhythms of the Night,  which showcased local culture. The night was amazing.   They took us across the harbour on a catamaran to a private beach for dinner and the show.   We met a lovely couple from Victoria,  Debbie and Norman, and got along famously.

We also got to catch up with my good friends, Kerry Fraser and Sean Hinke, their daughter Kathleen, and their extended family.   Originally we were going to take them out on a day sail.  However,  poor Kathleen had quite a fall upon arrival and spent the first day in hospital getting oral surgery.   We got to visit them a few days later than planned at their resort,  Kathleen short a couple of teeth but in great spirits.  We lounged by the pool and played on the beach.   We had an entertaining Japanese dinner where the chef cooks the meal at the table. It was a lovely day and we were so glad that we could spend some time together.

We set out that night onto our next leg, which will be 10 - 14 days out at sea.
