Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic to Road Town, British Virgin Islands

We left on the 23rd of March and it took just over 3 days to make the passage from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic to Road Town, British Virgin Islands.  We traveled north of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

We had rougher weather than forcasted; we saw 20 to 25 knots of wind for the majority of the trip.  We were pounding into weather for most of the time with only a few brief respites of being on a tight reach.

It was overcast and rainy for a good portion of the trip with the exception of the afternoon of the 25th,  which was quite sunny.  I had to wear a sweater every night once the sun went down.

I made chocolate chip cookies on the 24th.  I also read up on the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands using my Lonely Planet book.

We had lightning off the port side on the night of the 25th.   Luckily, it was downwind of the boat and quite far off.

We anchored in Road Town at 9 pm on the 26th.

Land ho! British Virgin Islands up ahead
